Two Finnish championships on row after he rejoined HJK as a player and a assistant director to the club management. Yesterday I was witnessing the most freezing match this year as it was snowing towards the stands with freezing cold wind added to it. But still, there was Aki Riihilahti (34 years already) playing full 90 minutes in the midfield with only short sleeves on his shirt. HJK won the championship already before the international break, but this was their last home game during this season so it was kind of touching moment as Riihilahti may not play again next season.

HJK (=Helsinki) won TPS (=Turku) by 2-0 and us only 4000 spectators enjoyed a spectacular fireworks after the game. I took video of it with my cellphone's camera, but it's quality is kind of shite and doesn't show the true atmosphere:

Aki has always been a bit underrated here in Finland, but now I know why you guys loved him at Palace. Great player and great development director.

And he always had a great website. This is a page from it, a great player for Palace. He also used to write a column in The Times newspaper.

PS Good photo, nice to see what he would look like in a Málaga shirt.

Yes he has the writing in his blood. His big brother, Riku, is a well known sports journalist and reporter here in Finland. Their mother also works for HJK, as some kind of mental coach or psychiatric. And so you can see from his homepages: "Gratuating from Mäkelänrinne High School 1994 (Laudatur, all subjects average 9,7/10) "

Mäkelänrinne is a high school for sportsmen only. If you aren't any potential young athlete, you have no chance of getting in there. And all subjects average 9,7...he's genius!!

Great photo indeed, it became my current background image in my computer

I am informed that 'Aki' was brought to Palace by manager 'Alan Smith' who was hardly revered by the 'Eagles' supporters ! The fee was £200,000 and he arrived from Norwegian club Valerenga. Good signing !

Rex Flin " Aki good signin' "

Talking about Scandi football, RBK have taken the league title in Norway (yet again - no surprise) BUT the Swedish Allsvenskan goes to the final game with both Malmö and Helsingborg in with a chance of taking the title this afternoon.

My money is on Malmö (at home to the minnows from Mjällby) who could themselves amazingly finish 4th (Population of Mjällby? Yes,1,272! Makes Monda look big!) Helsingborg host Kalmar who have had an awful season. Two home wins and Malmö win it but if Helsingborg get more points than Malmö today then the title is going 50 miles up the coast.

All starts in 20 mins so thank goodness for internet radio!

Tippeligaen reminds me of Ligue 1 in France...always the same title holder. They didn't even lose a single game during the season. Congratulations to Roar Strand however. 40 years already and has won the title 16 times. I guess this was his last season in the top-flight.

35-year-old "Ägä" fought 90 minutes in the midfield against Schalke04 as HJK won the first leg by 2-0. Also 40-year-old living legend, Litmanen, made a solid appearance as a substitute.

Hard as a rock!
